Principal's Message

Ms Holmes 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Get ready for a fabulous school year, my name is Leila Holmes, Principal.

It is a great privilege for me to serve a second term as Principal of the Anthony Alfano Elementary School Community for the 2019-2020 school year. My teaching career spans decades and only fortifies my excitement for the opportunity to lead a talented team of educators, staff, students and community into the pursuit of excellence. It is my belief that great schools are the result of great teachers, working with awesome parents, students and community to create a student-centered learning environment. An environment where the latest researched based educational initiatives will be implemented to create a safe, supportive learning atmosphere, conducive for all students to succeed.

Mrs. Vazquez and I welcome you and your child/ren to our Anthony Alfano Elementary School Community where parents are engaged partners in the school structure.  On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, the first day of school, you and your children will be greeted with smiles from an accommodating staff. The Principal, Assistant Principal, teachers, secretaries, monitors and aides are equipped and trained to approach you and every situation in a calm, collaborative, professional manner.

In preparation for opening day, the school schedule is as follows:

•          Pre-K- A.M. – students arrive at 9:39 A.M. and depart at 12:09 P.M.

•          Pre-K-P.M. – students arrive at 1:09 P.M. and depart at 3:39 P.M.

•          Pre-K Full Day and Grades 1-6 –students arrive at 9:39 A.M. and depart at 3:39  P.M.

Please have your child ready and at the bus corner 20 minutes before bus pick-up. On the return trip home, the bus driver will NOT drop off your Pre-K or Kindergarten child if no adult is at the door. If your child is in Pre-K, Kindergarten or 1st grade, firmly attach the enclosed name ty on your child's school bag. This will assist us in delivering your child to the correct teacher and to the appropriate bus at the conclusion of the day. I encourage all parents to say their good-byes at the bus stop. The drop off area is off limits to parents as traffic is very heavy.

Mrs. Vazquez and I welcome you to the Anthony Alfano Elementary School Community for an ambitious and productive school year where students will drive their own learning through data driven instructions.

Leila W. Holmes
